Gaskins set the school record for touchdowns in a single season with 21, and the total rushing yard record in a single game with 305.He has 23 carries in the contest at Bertram Field for an average of 13.2 yards per carry. Several of his runs were highlight reel material. His first touchdown was a run right to give Salem a 13-7 lead with about 5 minutes to play in the first quarter. His second was a 68 yard blast down the right side, jumping over a Beverly defender at the 20 before reaching the end zone. His third score was a 1 yard dive in the closing moments of the first half to give Salem a 35-13 lead.

Salem’s first possession in the third quarter ended in a Gaskins touchdown. After forcing the Panthers to give up the ball on downs at the Salem 21, Gaskins broke though for a 79 yard score with 9:19 to play in the third. Gaskins’ and Salem’s final touchdown came with 6:58 to play in the game when he powered ahead for a 3 yard score.

One of Gaskins’ best plays came on defense in the first quarter. Throwing from their own 18, Beverly’s pass was completed when Gaskins caused a fumble. The loose ball was scooped up by Melkin Bautista who ran it in for a 22 yard touchdown on the fumble recovery.

Beverly was led by Ryan Barror who scored all of his team’s touchdowns.

This is Salem’s first win at home on Thanksgiving since 1999. The series record stands at 60 wins for Beverly, 52 for Salem with 7 ties.
