“As We See it” – A Collection of Photographs by Swampscott’s Marilyn and Rick Cloran on View at Abbot Library in Marblehead

MARBLEHEAD – Sunday, October 2nd, through Thursday, October 20th – Public Reception: Sunday, cloran-3October 2nd, 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Marilyn and Rick Cloran of Swampscott have had multiple interests in photography for over thirty years. In this exhibit is a special collection of some of their favorites from North America, especially the National Parks, the New England area and locally. The exhibit will be on view from Sunday, October 2nd, through Thursday, October 20th, in the Abbot Public Library’s Virginia A. Carten Gallery. There will be a public opening reception on Sunday, October 2nd, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. All are welcome!

Marilyn Cloran is a native of Lynn and started her artistic endeavors in the field of oil painting but was drawn cloran-2to photography as she made numerous tours in various parts of our country and abroad. Recently she delved into watercolors and hopes to return to those, but for now she continues to capture mostly landscapes, the natural world and flowers on her digital cameras. She is retired from GE in Lynn, where she was a computer programmer.

Rick Cloran is a native of Beverly and originally got into photography at the Greater Lynn Camera Club in the 1970s. He now is a much sought after judge and lecturer and has presented teaching programs on nature and sports photography and on digital techniques across the United States and in Canada. Rick is retired from Liberty Mutual in Boston.

Both Marilyn and Rick are members of the Greater Lynn Photographic Association where they met. They also are members of LynnArts, the Swampscott Arts Association, Massachusetts Camera Naturalists and are active in the Photographic Society of America. They frequently exhibit at Union Hospital, Grosvenor Park and other venues in the local area. They have won awards in the Marblehead Festival of the Arts. Marilyn and Rick also exhibit in international projected image exhibitions recognized by the Photographic Society of America and each has accumulated more than 1,500 acceptances in these international salons.
