Videos / Photos: St. John’s Prep Lacrosse Wins 4th Straight D1 Title – Hear from Coach Pynchon and Players

BURLINGTON (Videos – Photos) #1 seed St. John’s Prep topped #7 seed Needham 17-13 Saturday morning at Burlington High School as the win marked the program’s fourth straight MIAA Division One Title. Jake Vana and Luke Kelly contributed five goals each for the Eagles. Needham scored the game’s first goal but then the Prep responded with five straight goals, only to have Needham tack two more on to end the first quarter (5-3). St. John’s burst out to open quarter two with four goals in a row to take a 9-4 lead, and at the half the Prep had a 10-5 lead. In the third quarter Needham got as close as three goals (11-8) and the Prep was able to close out the game with each team scoring three fourth quarter goals. Cam McCarthy added three goals and four assists for the Eagles while Jack Doherty won a majority of his faceoffs.
