NEWBURYPORT – (Video) In this final episode of the 2022 Mayor’s Corner, Mayor Sean Reardon begins with a recap of his first year as the Mayor of Newburyport. Mayor Reardon discusses some of the accomplishments during his first year including 5 Year Streets and Sidewalks Plan, Storm Responsiveness, Facilities Master Plan, an Economic Development Plan and improved communication. Funding has been secured for the Bulkhead Project, Bartlett Mall and Phase I of the Market Landing Project. Projects for 2023 include NYS, the Fire Station, Brown School, the website overhaul, Short Term Rental Units, Parks Re-org Plan, new MVRTA (Now MEVA) bus routes and Waterfront West, among others. A reminder that the Mayor’s State of the City Address will be held at City Hall on January 25th @ 7 pm.
At the conclusion of the address, Mayor Reardon will present awards recognizing Newburyport community members for their public and community service. The Onward, Forward! Public Service Award will honor a city employee, board or commission volunteer, or elected official who has gone above and beyond in their service to the city. In addition, three community service awards will recognize individuals, businesses, and youth who have made significant positive contributions to Newburyport. Community members can nominate potential award recipients now through January 5th.
