(Video) Gloucester Firefighters Local Union 762 Hosting Fundraiser for Shriners Hospital for Children

GLOUCESTER – Like most, if not all other Massachusetts city and town firefighters, the Gloucester Fire Department works tirelessly for a number of charitable organizations.  Gloucester Firefighters Local Union 762 President Andrew Lyons, along with Lt. Chad Mota, and with the support of the union members and Gloucester Fire Chief Eric Smith, have established a virtual 5K race fundraiser on behalf of the Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston.

The event will be held virtually from Monday, May 24 to Sunday, May 30. During that time, participants will be able to run, walk or jog a 5K race on a course of their choosing.

The cost to sign up is $30 and the first 150 participants will receive an event t-shirt. You do not need to complete the 5K in order to donate to the fundraiser. However, those who wish to complete the 5K will be able to choose their own course and track their progress by downloading the Pacer App to their mobile device. A link will be sent out prior to the start of the event so that those that wish to participate in the 5K can join the virtual race.

All proceeds will go toward Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston, which provides specialized care and procedures for orthopaedic and neuromusculoskeletal conditions and injuries, burns, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip and palate, and other complex health care needs. More information about the hospital can be found here.
