METHUEN — Methuen Police Chief Scott McNamara reports that the Methuen Police Department has arrested and charged three individuals in connection with a recent shooting on Boston Street that left three people injured.
JAYDEN MORENO, AGE 18, OF METHUEN, was arrested and charged with:
- Armed Assault to Murder
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Dwelling
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
- Possession of a Firearm while Committing a Felony
- Disturbing the Peace
REGGIE WELLS, AGE 18, OF SALEM, N.H., was arrested and charged with:
- Armed Assault to Murder (3 counts)
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Dwelling
- Carrying a Dangerous Weapon
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
- Possession of a Firearm while Committing a Felony
A 16-YEAR-OLD MALE was arrested and charged with:
- Armed Assault to Murder (3 counts)
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (3 counts)
On Monday, Oct. 21, at approximately 1:03 a.m., Methuen Police responded to a report of gunfire and injuries in the area of 113 Boston St. Officers arrived to find two victims, a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both received on-scene treatment before being transported to a local hospital. Shortly after, a third individual, a 16-year-old male, arrived at a local hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.
The 17-year-old victim remains in critical condition at a regional trauma center. The other two victims have since been released from hospitals.
Through the coordinated efforts of Methuen Police Patrol Officers, Massachusetts State Police, and Methuen Police Detectives working under the leadership of Sgt. Nicholas Conway, the investigation yielded crucial evidence across multiple locations. Items recovered included two firearms — one being an untraceable 9mm “ghost gun” — ammunition casings, and personal items.
The investigation identified MORENO, WELLS and the 16-year-old as suspects in the shooting, and all three were arrested this week.
Chief McNamara and the Methuen Police Department would like to extend their gratitude to other agencies that provided critical support to this investigation, including the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police, New Hampshire State Police, Greenville, N.H., Police Department, Lawrence Police Department, Amesbury Police Department, Watertown Police Department, Massachusetts Environmental Police, Lynnfield Police Department, and the Department of Youth Services.
Chief McNamara would also like to single out the work of Detective Lt. Joseph Rynne, Detective Sgt. Nicholas Conway and Detectives Mathew St. Jean, William Kannan, Lawrence May, Charles DeJesus, Robert Cubelli and Tracy Noonan, who demonstrated exceptional dedication and collaboration throughout this complex investigation.
