GLOUCESTER – Chief Edward Conley wishes to provide an update about the ongoing investigation into an incident involving juveniles on Friday, Aug. 30. The Gloucester Police Department remains fully committed to thoroughly and methodically investigating the matter and will continue to keep the community informed.
A specially trained civil rights detective, with the support of other officers, has been carefully identifying potential witnesses and preparing for interviews. Detectives have been in regular contact with the Essex County District Attorney’s Office regarding the investigation.
Given that this incident involves juveniles, Chief Conley cautions that a comprehensive and impartial investigation could take several weeks.
Chief Conley emphasizes that the safety and security of the community remain a top priority, and the Police Department is taking proactive steps to ensure that community members feel safe and secure both at school and throughout the City.
