The annual Select Board Classification Hearing will be held on December 3, 2024, at 6:30 PM. During this hearing, the Select Board determines the percentage of the tax levy each class of real property and personal property will bear by adopting a residential factor. The residential factor governs the percentage of the tax levy to be paid by the Residential Class. The balance is shifted onto Commercial, Industrial, and Personal Properties. The holiday season is upon us, with Thanksgiving later this week. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, with more than three times the daily average for such incidents. Christmas Day and Eve ranked second and third, nearly twice the daily average.

According to the NFPA, cooking causes over half (52%) of all reported house fires and nearly two out of every five (36%) home fire injuries. It is also a leading cause of home fire deaths (17%).

The Annual Lynnfield/North Reading Football Luncheon, hosted by the Lynnfield Rotary Club & NRHS, was held this past Thursday at the Salem Country Club. Football Coaches and Captains spoke about their teams and expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to play on Thanksgiving.
