Special Gloucester Alert
ALERT – SLICK ROADS, SPLASH OVER AND MINOR COASTAL FLOODING DUE TO TUES MORNING HIGH TIDE
(Tues Jan 30, 2018) WATCH FOR SLICK ROADS FROM SPLASH OVER & MINOR COASTAL FLOODING WITH TUESDAY MORNING’S HIGH TIDE
Tides will be astronomically high during the Tuesday AM High-Tide near 9:41AM as it coincides with the “super” full moon and an ocean storm, creating northeasterly winds as it passes well off of Nantucket.
Roads are expected to be slick in areas, so we remind all drivers to please be careful when heading out. Roadways most prone to splash-over at astronomically high tides will be at greatest risk of inundation. Expect Minor coastal flooding with the Storm-surge and waves.
Also, snow will be ending with temperatures in the mid-20s. As the tide retreats pavements will remain near or below freezing resulting in icy conditions on wet surfaces.
While minimal snow accumulation is expected for the Cape Ann area but we caution all citizens who are in low lying areas that are prone to flooding to be aware and prepare accordingly. If your home is being flooded or if you are in danger, CALL 911 FOR IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE. Emergency teams are prepared to assist anyone in need so call 911 right away for help.
Updates will be forthcoming and will be shared on the City of Gloucester website and social media pages so please visit www.gloucester-ma.gov. Thank you for your assistance and please use 911 for any flooding or emergency needs.
