Romiza Breaks Two Records as Generals Defeat Bishop Fenwick
The Hamilton-Wenham/Manchester-Essex/Ipswich/Gloucester/Rockport co-op
gymnastics team — the Generals — delivered a strong performance in their meet
against Bishop Fenwick on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in North Andover. The Generals
posted a team score of 137.6, defeating Bishop Fenwick’s total of 123.1.
Freshman Wren Romiza made program history, breaking two long-standing school
records. On beam, Romiza earned an impressive 9.8, surpassing the previous mark of
9.4 that had stood since 2005. She also set a new all-around record of 37.4, topping the
former record of 37.25 that had been in place since 2006.
Fellow freshman Brooke Woods was the team’s top vault performer, earning a strong
9.0 at the meet.
The Generals continue to rely on the steady presence of their senior athletes — Amelia
Franklin, Evelyn Durey, Elida Carr, and Savannah Gauron — who are consistent
competitors and reliable contributors. Also contributing to the lineup efforts were juniors
Emme Cronin and Ania Rakowski, sophomore Dana Wheeler, and freshman Kyra
Wollach, and Evelynn Pekrul, whose performances added valuable depth to the team’s
success.
Coaches quote “I’m incredibly proud of this team and everyone who helps make
everything possible. Every gymnast, whether competing or supporting in a meet, plays
an important role, and I’m grateful for the hard work and dedication each athlete brings.
We have depth and hard-working athletes, and I hope to have a fun and successful
season.”
The Generals will return to competition this Friday, January 16, at 8 p.m., hosting
Winthrop for their first home meet of the season at Iron Rail Gymnastics Academy in
Wenham.
