Tuesday Evening Update from Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill

Hi. This is Mayor Mike Cahill with a Tuesday evening update.  First, I want to remind everyone that the school year has started.  Please pay special attention to safety, as our children are walking, biking, and taking school buses each day, and they are crossing our streets to get to our many schools in the morning and then back home in the afternoon.  Please let’s make their safety our top priority.

Now to this evening’s trash update. Today, Republic finally finished missed routes from last week, and they picked up significant parts of the regular Friday routes.  If you are a regular Friday customer, and Republic did not pick up your combined trash and recycling today, they should pick it up tomorrow.  We have directed them to finish Friday pickup before moving on to the next day.  Maps of the remaining streets to pick up from the Friday routes can be found on the city website – beverlyma.gov – by clicking the Trash & Recycling button.  If you don’t see your street identified as needing pickup on one of the maps, please e-mail me at mayorcahill@beverlyma.gov and I will make sure Republic knows.

On Wednesday, regular Monday customers should put your mixed trash and recycling at the curb before 7 AM.  Again, only the regular Monday customers should add their trash and recycling to the mix by putting it at the curb before 7 AM on Wednesday morning.  Republic will work a five day week through this Saturday.  The remaining schedule is as follows:

– Regular Monday on Wednesday

– Regular Tuesday on Thursday

– Regular Wednesday on Friday

– Regular Thursday on Saturday

All this week, Republic will continue to pick up recycling as trash.  We are trying to get Republic to resume separate recycling pickup next week.  In the meantime, for those who want to and can bring your recycling to the Standley St. yard waste compost site, from which it will be brought to a recycling facility, the site will be open this Tuesday – Saturday from 9 AM – 3 PM.  If you use the dumpsters at Standley St., please only put accepted recycling materials in the dumpsters, and please break down all cardboard and flatten all plastic you can.  Our Department of Public Services team is actively managing the site – please help them by doing your part.

Thank you, All.  I hope you have a good evening.
