Coach Kerrri O’Connor:  Proud to announce that Ipswich is 8-0 and with todays win making it into the playoff tournament.  This is the earliest that this coach can remember with Ipswich sealing a playoff spot this early in the season.  All 20 players on our roster played unified and determined today and proved that we play “better together” as our season motto states.  Ipswich had excellent draw control today. Kelsey Daly, Grace Evans and Annie Gillis had multiple ground balls controlled.   Today was a team effort.  Both goalies, Maddie Wilson and Emily Martineau, kept the score at 1 for HW

Boys’ Tennis
Pentucket 4, Hamilton-Wenham 1
Coach Joe Maher of the Generals:  “Jack Greenwald had the lone win for the Generals at number two singles 6-3, 6-4. The Generals played their best match of the season but couldn’t overcome the undefeated Sachems. Ben Danforth and Thor Messer had an outstanding match at first doubles before falling in a 2 1/2 hour marathon, 7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-7 (5)”
Masconomet 3, Marblehead 2

In the waning light, the match between two well-matched schools went once again to Masco 3-2, but not before Marblehead boys put up a good fight to the finish. In addition, the sub-varsity and JV matches played well to a 3-3 tie and all the players who came to the match saw some playing time today.

1.       Senior quad-captain Justin Faia lost to fellow senior Nick Marshall 6-4, 6-2

2.       Senior quad-captain Felix Litvak lost to fellow senior Mas Gordon 6-1, 6-4

3.       Sophomore Billy Ackerman beat Marshall Lastes 6-2, 6-5 (7-3); due to waning light, a tie-break was played at 5-5 in the second set to decide the set. Billy played the best yet this season. Well done.

1st doubles Senior quad-captains Sam Orenstein and Garrett Tully lost a heart-breaker 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Sam and Garrett played exceptional doubles and were up 3-0 in the third but then Masco’s Kole Kasakovski and Gabriel Gordbejlli came on strongly at the end and took the set 6-4.

2nd doubles: Sophomores Dan Litvak and Jack Quigley beat Haolan Zhan and Jake Weogan 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) in one of the best matches of the day. I was really proud of how Jack and Dan set each other up and supported each other throughout their competitive play.

In first sub varsity Seniors Mike Conlin and Luke Fobert won 6-2, sophomores Adam Sherf and Tony Gluskin won 6-2, Juniors Harry Dolin and Mason Friedman won 6-3.

INnJV play, Ben Birnbach and Erik Stammiz lost a close set 7-5, Ben Farfel and Reid Tully lost 6-0, and Jake Hubbard and Hunter Wanger lost 6-0.
