Men’s College Hockey
Westfield State 6, Salem State 3 – Luca Marini (Lighthouse Point, Fla.) scored twice and added an assist to give Westfield State the win. The Owls boost their overall record to 8-3-1, 5-2-1 while the Vikings drop to 3-8,3-6. Salem State looking to bounce back on Saturday afternoon as they will face Fitchburg State away for a Massachusetts State Athletic Conference (MASCAC). Game time is at 5 p.m.
Men’s College Basketball
Endicott 74, Curry 72 – Elijah Kinney (Nashville, Tenn.) led all scorers with his fifth career double-double including 24 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3PT, 5-7 FT), 12 boards, three steals, and the game-winning layup. Jalen Echevarria (Lynn) collected 17 points (5-12 FG, 2-5 3PT, 5-6 FT) in 34 minutes of action. Liam Dunfee (Nahant) chipped in with eight points and ripped down four rebounds off the bench.
In the opening stanza, Endicott produced a 21-4 run to gain a 30-19 lead with 11:38 left. The stretch was driven by Kinney (6), Dunfee (4), Parker McLaren (Newburyport) (4), Matt Boen (Mansfield) (3), Echevarria (2), and Jeff Hill (Lynn) (2). Endicott (9-3, 5-0 CCC) visits Hartford on Saturday, January 6 at 3:30 PM.
Women’s College Basketball
Endicott 73, Curry 51 – With 7:15 remaining in the fourth quarter, Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) knocked down a free throw to join the 1,000-point club. The junior recorded her fourth double-double of the 2023-24 campaign courtesy of 19 points (5-15 FG, 9-11 FT), 12 boards, and four blocks.
Emma Shinney (Wakefield) supplied an all-around game with 15 points (6-16 FG, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, six dimes, and two steals. Katelyn Konareski (Milford, Conn.) also added 12 points and swiped three steals off the bench. Endicott (6-5, 3-2 CCC) visits Hartford on Saturday, January 6 at 1:00 PM.
