In record heat, another close match was played with Latin Academy this time at Marblehead HS with LA winning 3-2.The Marblehead doubles teams ruled the day, winning both matches decisively.
1st. Senior captain Justin Faia lost to Sam Pham 6-1, 6-0. The points were long and well played with Justin putting up a good fight. I was glad to see him compete that well.
2nd singles Senior quad-captain Felix Litvak lost another close match against Kevin Kubinec, 6-1, 7-5. Felix had the upper hand in the second set, serving at 5-4. Kevin managed to break him in the game and then win the next two. Felix played hard till the end and put himself in a position to win.
3rd singles: Sophomore Billy Ackerman faced a very strong opponent in senior Garrett Sheerin, who won the match 6-2, 6-0. The two had some long hard fought points and Billy made Garrett earn his win.
1st doubles: Senior quad captains Sam Orenstein and Garrett Tully had one of their best matches all season beating Kavos Mutisya and Kakit Wong 6-1, 6-1. Sam and Garrett dominated with their serves and solid approach shots putting pressure on their opponents to come with passes.
2nd doubles: Sophomore Dan Litvak and Jack Quigley beat Lawrence Byrne and Andre Gooding-Chavis 6-0, 6-1. Dan and Jack have excellent doubles skills and play well together as a team. Win or lose the point, they continue to support each other with their upbeat attitudes.
In sub-varsity play, Mike Conlin and Adam Sherf won 6-0. Tony Gluskin and Harry Dolin won 6-0.
