City of Salem COVID-19 Response Update – April 22, 2020 

The City of Salem continues to advance measures to help slow the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), lessen impacts on healthcare providers responding to this evolving situation, and support Salem residents and businesses during this public health emergency. New Updates 

  • Mayor Kim Driscoll and Health Agent David Greenbaum will offer another public update on the City’s response to COVID-19 at the City Council meeting on Thursday at 7pm. Details about how to watch the update on Zoom can be found at www.salem.com/city-council/events/268383 or tune in on Thursday evening to SATV on Channel 22. 
  • If you have lost your job or work hours because of COVID-19, you can apply for food assistance through SNAP at any time. You do not have to wait to file an application. All applications will be treated as urgent. Applicants will only be interviewed if absolutely necessary to approve their application. Everyone eligible will receive the maximum household benefit. To find out if you’re eligible, visit: https://dtaconnect.eohhs.mass.gov/screening. Status of Cases

As of 4:00 p.m. on April 22, 2020, 289 Salem residents have tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 13 Salem residents have died from the virus. Since the outbreak began, 63 Salem residents who had been infected by the virus have cleared their isolation period. Additional data about Salem COVID-19 cases is below.
