MIAA WINTER TOURNAMENT BRACKETS

The St. John’s Prep hockey team opened the MIAA division one playoffs last night with a 7-0 win over Franklin. The Prep had six different goal scorers and Jesse Bernardinelli earned the shutout in goal in his first playoff start. In other hockey, Winthrop edged Rockport 5-4 in overtime with the winning goal scored by Paul Ferrara. St. Mary’s was a 4-2 winner over Bishop Feehan as Aiden St. Pierre netted the deciding goal for the Spartans. Danver beat Westfield 4-1 behind a three goal outburst from Cooper Dunham. Lynnfield over Blackstone Valley 2-1 in overtime with Cole MacKinnon scoring the game winner.

In girls hockey, St. Mary’s opened tournament play with a 5-1 win over Framingham. Winthrop fell to the Methuen / Tewksbury co-op team 2-0

The Celtics lost to the Nuggets in Denver last night 103-84, the Celts return to action tomorrow night at home against Brooklyn. The Bruins end their Olympic break tonight when the host the Blue Jackets.
