Afternoon Update from Essex County DA’s Office
Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in Lawrence that took place Wednesday evening, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Acting Chief Michael McCarthy announced.
On Wednesday September 6, 2023, at approximately 2120 hours Lawrence Police Department received a 911 call for shots fired in the area of 300 Howard Street.
Lawrence Police Officers arrived on scene and discovered 19-year-old Angie Aristy suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to Lawrence General Hospital where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The incident is under investigation by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit and detectives from the Lawrence Police Department.

Hamilton-Wenham Volleyball – The Hamilton-Wenham varsity volleyball team (2-0) swept the visiting Georgetown Royals in a CAL matchup for their second victory in as many nights to kick off their season by set scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-5. The Generals excelled from the service line, recording 25 aces on the evening, and were led by junior Ava Day (9 aces) and sophomore Morgan Etna (9 aces). Offensively, HW was paced by senior Maddie Wilson’s 4 kills.
