Thursday, 9/14: Lynn to Address Violence – D.A. Report Updates Lawrence Shooting – Newburyport House Fire

 

The Massachusetts State Police has tracked down and arrested an individual charged with shooting a Lawrence woman, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker announced Thursday.

Jobe Santiago, 14 of Lawrence is charged with Murder in connection with the Sept. 6th shooting of Angie Aristy, 19, in the vicinity of 300 Howard Street, Lawrence.

On Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, Lawrence Police received a 911 call for shots fired.  Officers arrived on scene and found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.  She was transported to Lawrence General Hospital and subsequently died from her injuries.

Santiago was arrested on Wednesday by the MSP STOP Team, the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, U.S. Marshals, and members of the Essex County State Police Detectives Unit. Lowell and Lawrence police also assisted in the apprehension.

A second juvenile has been charged with Assault with Intent to Rob in connection with the incident.

Santiago and the other juvenile will be arraigned on Thursday at Lawrence District Court and Lawrence Juvenile Court, respectively.

Hamilton-Wenham Volleyball – The Hamilton-Wenham volleyball team won a 5-set thriller over visiting CAL opponent Lynnfield to improve to a perfect 4-0 on the season, 25-16, 13-25, 20-25, 25-23, 16-14. The first two sets of the back-and-forth battle were largely determined from the service line before both offenses got rolling in sets three through five.

After taking the first set in dominant fashion, the Generals had to climb out of a 2-1 hole on the backs of senior Gaby Campbell (11 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks), junior Ava Day (8 digs, 5 aces), senior Maddie Wilson (6 kills, 3 aces), and sophomore Morgan Etna (6 aces, 4 kills, 3 digs) before facing a Lynnfield match point in the 5th set, with HW ending the game on a 3 point run with senior Hannah Ciriello (23 assists, 1 ace) at the service line.  (From coach Marc Turiano

Salem State Assistant Coach Heads to Division One School

SALEM  Salem State men’s basketball is proud to announce that former All-American and current assistant coach, Sean Bryan has accepted a graduate assistant coaching position at NCAA DI University of Maryland Baltimore County.

The former All-American expressed how Salem State prepared him for this career opportunity. “Salem State has helped me in numerous ways. The university allowed me to grow closer to the individual I am trying to become. It also introduced me to many great people that have taught me many valuable lessons along the way, and that I still hold on to today.”

Salem State head men’s basketball head coach, Chris Harvey, was excited for his former captain. “I am thrilled for Sean. The moment he donned the Viking uniform, we knew right away we had a coach on the floor. This is the next step along his journey, the skies the limit for Sean.”

Bryan will help with player development as well as assist with the daily coaching and planning of practices.

Bryan was named a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Third Team Division III All-American in his final season as a Viking in 2022, becoming the eighth All-American in Salem State history. He ended his career as the school’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,849 points.
