Essex County Sheriff’s Department will host a convention for law enforcement comfort dogs on June 4 at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill. Comfort K9 teams from law enforcement agencies across Essex County will come together for a meet & greet, free obedience training, and fun. A second convention is planned for later this summer, and a third one is planned for the fall. There will be an obedience competition at the third event. These get-togethers and trainings are funded through a grant from Essex County Outreach. Training will be provided by Professional Canine Services of Middleborough.

Here is the HW Athletics State Tournament Update as of Wednesday, May 29th, 6:00 PM
  • HW Boys Tennis (15-2, CAL Champs) defeated Stoneham today at Pingree School, 5-0 in the Round of 32,  MIAA Division IV State Tournament.   The Generals advance to the Sweet Sixteen and will host Monomoy Regional High School on Monday, June 3rd at 4:00 at Pingree School in Hamilton. 
  • Congratulations to HW Girls Track & Field for their 2nd Place finish at the MIAA Division VI Championships last week. Junior Georgia Wilson came in 1st Place in the Triple Jump and Freshman Grace Rich took 1st Place in the Mile. Both athletes have qualified for the MIAA Meet of Champions to take place on Thursday, May 30th and Saturday June 1st and will compete in these events.  Wilson will also compete in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash.
  • HW Softball (6-14) has earned the #30 seed in the upcoming MIAA Division IV State Tournament.  It is the first time since 2017 the Generals have qualified for the Post Season.  HW will host #35 Nantucket in the Preliminary Round on Thursday, May 30th at 2:00 PM at Black Park at Pingree Field in Wenham.
  • HW Baseball (13-7) has earned the #15 seed in the upcoming MIAA Division IV State Tournament.  The Generals will host Dennis Yarmouth in the Round of 32 on Friday, May 31st at 4:30 at Patton Park in Hamilton.
  • HW Girls Tennis (14-2) has earned the #1 seed in the upcoming MIAA Division IV State Tournament.  The Generals will host the winner of Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion and Hampden Charter – East in the Round of 32 on Friday, May 31st at 4:30 at Pingree School in Hamilton.
  • HW Girls Lacrosse (10-6) has earned the #9 seed in the upcoming MIAA Division IV State Tournament.  The Generals will host South Hadley High School in the Round of 32 on Sunday, June 2nd at 5:15 PM at Gloucester’s New Balance Stadium.
