Tewksbury Police Department Arrest and Charge Two Individuals with Several Drug Distribution and Possession Charges

TEWKSBURY — Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested and charged a Lawrence male and female on several drug distribution and possession charges Tuesday night.

ANGEL PEGUERO-MOTA, AGE 22, of LAWRENCE, was arrested and charged with:

  • Distribution of a Class A Drug
  • Distribution of a Class B Drug
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (two counts)

MARI SOUSA, AGE 44, of LAWRENCE, was arrested and charged with:

  • Distribution of a Class A Drug
  • Distribution of a Class B Drug
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute of a Class A Drug
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute of a Class B Drug (two counts)
  • Operation of Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License (subsequent offense)

On Tuesday, Dec. 17, at about 9:20 p.m., the Tewksbury Police Narcotics Unit was operating in the area of 1775 Andover St. as part of an ongoing investigation.

As a result of the investigation, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop of a gray Subaru Crosstrek that was occupied by PEGUERO-MOTA and SOUSA.

PEGUERO-MOTA and SOUSA were arrested without incident.

During a subsequent investigation officers recovered a cell phone, about $305 in cash, a small bag of a white rock-like substance later determined to be 8.8 grams of crack cocaine, two small bags of a white powdery substance later determined to be 4.6 grams of cocaine, and a small bag of a hard brown substance later determined to be 4.4 grams of fentanyl on PEGUERO-MOTA‘s person.

Officers found a lighter, $20 in cash, and an empty glass cylinder pipe on SOUSA‘s person.

PEGUERO-MOTA and SOUSA are scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
