Suspect in Lawrence Homicide in Custody

A suspect in a fatal shooting in Lawrence in May was taken into custody this morning, according to Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett and Lawrence Police Chief Roy Vasque.

Hector Baez (dob: 9/18/1997), of Lawrence and Haverhill, was arrested for murder in connection with a shooting on Newton Street on May 3rd that killed one man and injured two others.  Essex State Police Detective Unit, MSP Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Lawrence and Haverhill Police located the suspect in Haverhill and arrested him without incident this morning.  He is expected to be arraigned in Lawrence District Court tomorrow morning.

On Sunday May 3, just after 9:00 pm, Lawrence Police received several 911 calls reporting shots fired at 141 Newton Street. When first responders arrived on scene, a man identified as Delvis Paulino-Fernandez, 26, was deceased.  Two other men were also shot and were transported to Lawrence General Hospital, where they were treated and released.
