Boys Hockey

St. John’s Prep vs. Pope Francis – 3:30 p.m.

DANVERS – The St. John’s Prep hockey team (20-2-1) will play Pope Francis (19-2-3) Sunday in a 3 p.m. start at the Tsongas Center in the MIAA D1 Boys’ Hockey Tournament semifinals.  The Prep, at number 1, and Pope Francis, at number 4 are the two highest seeds remaining in the Tournament.

Reading and Xaverian will face off in the other semifinal game on Sunday.

Eagles coach Kristian Hanson is well aware of the talent playing in the Final Four.

Triton vs Nashoba Regional – 1 p.m.

NEWBURY – The 10th-seeded Triton Vikings (14-7-2) have advanced to the semifinals of the MIAA D3 Hockey Tournament as a result of their win over 2nd-seeded Lynnfield (20-2-1) on Wednesday.  Vikings coach Ryan Sheehan feels his team is playing its best hockey of the season as it heads into the Tsongas Arena Sunday at 1 p.m. to face off against the number 11 seed, Nashoba Regional (13-5-5).

Girls’ hockey

St. Mary’s vs Billerica – 11 a.m.

LYNN – The #1 seeded St. Mary’s girls hockey team scored two first period goals as the Spartans beat #8 seeded Peabody 2-0 Wednesday evening at the Connery Rink in Lynn. With the win St. Mary’s advances to the MIAA Division One semifinals. The game’s first goal came at 7:20 of the first period and was scored by Tia Picardi on a rebound with assists from Gianna Young and Vanessa Hall. The Spartan’s second goal came just a little over two minutes later (9:50) from Jenna Chaplain with an assist from Amanda Forziati. Angelina Catino got the shutout in goal for St. Mary’s. Alyse Mutti play well in nets for Peabody. Hear post game comments from both coaches. College Hockey Update

In the D3 NCAA men’s hockey tournament Norwich beat Plattsburgh 2-1 (OT) Saturday night to advance at play at Endicott next weekend. Game date and time TBA.
