GLOUCESTER – Gloucester High School’s softball team will square off with Swampscott for the third time this season on Friday in Lowell as the Fishermen advanced with a win over Arlington Catholic this week, while the Big Blue pulled out a win over North Reading. Gloucester and Swampscott have split the season series with each team winning a game by a run. According to Gloucester softball coach John-John Nicastro, the Fishermen have made continuous gains since mid-season when they were 4-4, and a major factor has been the play of batterymates: senior Karina Keenan and junior Sam Cominelli
