State Police Investigating Sunday Homicide in Lynn

UPDATE at 7 p.m.

At approximately 1:30 Sunday morning, Sergio SANCHEZ, 39, of Reading and a 33-year-old Lynn man were walking on Blake Street in Lynn after having been at an area establishment.  In a parking lot near 22 Blake Street, they were attacked by two other men.  During the attack, the Lynn man called 911.  Mr. SANCHEZ was transported to Salem Hospital and then to Massachusetts General Hospital with life threatening injuries.  Police believe he had been struck in the head with a brick.  He succumbed to those injuries this morning.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is expected to perform an autopsy tomorrow.  The Lynn man is at a local hospital and is expected to survive.

 

No arrests have been made.  Investigators do not believe that the suspects and the victims know one another.  The matter remains under investigation by the Essex District Attorney’s Office, the Essex State Police Detective Unit and Lynn Police.

Please be advised that the Essex District Attorney’s Office, the Essex State Police Detective Unit and Lynn Police are investigating a fatal assault.   Two men were assaulted by two other men while walking down Blake Street in Lynn at approximately 1:30 Sunday morning.  A 39-year old Reading man was transported to a Boston hospital with life threatening injuries.  Police believe he had been struck with a brick.  He succumbed to his injuries this morning.  The other man was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.  No arrests have been made.  The matter remains under investigation.
