State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Salisbury – State Police Report January 13, 2020

At approximately 4:45 p.m. today troopers assigned to State Police-Newbury received reports of a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Route 495 Northbound South of Route 95 in Salisbury. Troopers responded to that location along with Salisbury Fire & EMS.

Upon their arrival they observed a 2002 Audi A-4 that had struck a 2013 Lexus RX450 in a head-on fashion. The operator of the Audi, a 20-year-old male from Seabrook, N.H., sustained fatal injuries in the crash. A 22-year-old male passenger in the Audi suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The 38-year-old female operator of the Lexus was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows the Audi was traveling Route 495 Southbound when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the operator lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center median. The Lexus was traveling Northbound when it was struck by the Audi. The speed of the Audi is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police along with the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and the Office of the Medical Examiner. Troopers were assisted on scene by MassDOT.
