State Police Investigating Fatal Accident on Route 128 in Beverly – Endicott College Student from Boxford is Victim

BEVERLY – The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred at approximately midnight on Route 128 northbound in Beverly. The victim, a 20-year-old Boxford man, was a student at Endicott College in Beverly.

The motorist who struck the victim, a 55-year-old Florida man operating a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban sport utility vehicle, immediately stopped, called 911, and reported the crash to the State Police Barracks in Danvers. The motorist, who is not being identified at this time, has cooperated with the investigation.
The crash occurred near Exit 18. Preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was in the left lane when he was struck. The victim was in possession of a skateboard at the time of the crash. Whether he was riding the skateboard or carrying it at the time of the crash is part of the ongoing investigation.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.
The victim’s next of kin have been notified. His name is not being released at this time.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Essex County.
