State Police Arrest Boston Man in Peabody After Danvers Carjacking Incident

PEABODY – (State Police Report) Today at about 3:15 p.m., State Police arrested a Boston man on Route 1 in Peabody who was a suspect in a recent Breaking and Entering and Carjacking incident in Danvers.

State Police received information from Danvers Police that a suspect in a Breaking and Entering incident in their town had just carjacked a 2004 Ford Explorer. Trooper James Maloney of the Danvers Barracks immediately spotted the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the breakdown lane on Route 1 South in Peabody.  He was able to affect a motor vehicle stop.  The operator alighted from the vehicle and made an aggressive advance towards the trooper.  After a brief struggle, the operator, GUILLERMO JOSE TORRES, 37, of Boston, was placed under arrest and booked at the Danvers Barracks on the following charges:

  1. Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
  2. Using a Motor Vehicle without Authority
  3. Resisting Arrest
  4. Operating on a Suspended License
  5. Breakdown Lane Violation
  6. Speeding

TORRES was then transported to Danvers Police to face charges associated with alleged criminal activity which occurred in their town. He will be arraigned in Salem District Court on Monday.
