LYNN – St. Mary’s defeated Manchester-Essex 44-0 in an opening round MIAA Division 7 North playoff football game Friday night at Manning Field in Lynn. Quarterback Calvin Johnson ran for two touchdowns (75 yds & 46 yads) and threw for a third all in the first half. The Spartans led 30-0 at halftime. St. Mary’s James Brumfield scored two touchdowns; 54 yard interception return and a 29 yard run. George Freeman rushed for a third quarter TD. The game’s first score was a pass from Calvin Johnson to Marlon Scott. St. Mary’s will play Greater Lawrence next weekend following their 49-21 win over Georgetown Friday night.
