ESSEX COUNTY – (Release from District Attorney’s Office) A 55-year old registered sex offender, last address in Lynn, appeared Tuesday in Lawrence Superior Court to breaking into an Andover home and duct taping a 16-year old girl to a chair while he robbed her home. He also admitted to attempting to escape from the Essex County House of Corrections in Middleton.
Peter Bardzik pleaded guilty to Breaking & Entering in the Daytime to Commit a Felony (2 counts); Kidnapping, Larceny over $250; Unarmed Robbery; and Escape from a Penal Institution.
Judge Mary Ames sentenced him to 20 to 25 years in state prison.
Had the case gone to trial, Essex Assistant District Attorney Kim Gillespie would have introduced evidence that would have proved that on July 31, 2015, the defendant broke into a home on North Main Street in Andover, MA while a 16-year old girl was home. Hearing a noise in the garage, the girl went to investigate and the defendant grabbed her and forced her upstairs. Once upstairs, the defendant demanded money and taped her to a chair. The defendant stole approximately $300 from her. He fled the home leaving her taped to the chair.
Later that same day, Andover officers responded to a reported Breaking & Entering on Harding Street where the resident reported he came home to find a screen pushed in H.e found a backpack and some clothes were missing and that someone had left dirty wet clothes in the closet of his apartment.
Those clothes matched the description the girl had given to police of her assailant and later found to have the defendant’s DNA on them.
On April 10, 2016, while in custody at the Essex County House of Correction in Middleton, the defendant attempted to escape by climbing onto a roof and attempting to climb a fence. He “underestimated the razor wire” and fell from the fence into a secure area between two fences before being located by a corrections officer.
ADA Gillespie praised Andover PD detectives Kevin Aufiero and Peter Reming and Middleton House of Corrections Officer Steve Beaulieu for their hard work on the investigation.
