BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men’s lacrosse team posted an 11-7 conference victory over Wentworth on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.

Prior to today’s game, seniors Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine), Conor Billings (Brookhaven, N.Y.), Fabian Brunner (Niskayuna, N.Y.), Peter Field Jr. (Hampstead, N.H.), Ben Katzen (Blauvelt, N.Y.), Dominic Martinelli (Niskayuna, N.Y.), and Mitchell Tapley (Falmouth, Maine) were all honored for their contributions towards the men’s lacrosse program.

Will Jennings (Danvers, Mass.) led all scorers with six points on five goals and one assist, while Tapley found the back of the net four times to highlight the Gulls offensively. Field Jr. and Harvey also buried goals at the 9:53 and 6:00 marks of the first quarter, respectively, to round out the scoring for Endicott.

Wentworth received a hat-trick from Alec Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) and a pair of tallies from Tim Parlato (Needham, Mass.) alongside solo strikes from Nick Parent (Windham, N.H.) and Jason Buck (Manlius, N.Y.).

After Parent opened up the scoring for the Leopards at 12:36 of the first quarter, Endicott rattled off four straight goals to close out the quarter with a 4-1 advantage. The Gulls produced the same 4-1 scoring differential in the second quarter – which featured two goals apiece from Jennings and Tapley – to take an 8-2 lead into the half.

The Gulls shut out Wentworth in the third via goals from Tapley (2) and Jennings, before the Leopards flipped the script in the fourth with a 5-0 margin to cut their then 11-2 gap to 11-7 at the final horn. Parlato registered back to back tallies at 11:57 and 11:07 of the fourth, while Paradis compiled his hat-track over a 7:07 span (9:30-2:23) to wrap up the scoring in the contest for both teams.

Bell made 10 saves in the win (5-8) for Endicott, while Adam Dufault (Lexington, Mass.) stopped eight shots in the loss (0-6). Scott Boucher (Salisbury, N.H.) played the entire second half for the Leopards, and record three saves.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Bell is now tied with current head coach and former Endicott three-time All-American Eric Hagarty on the all-time wins list with 48 total.
  • Field Jr also added an assist to his stat line on Tapley’s first of two goals in the third.
  • Katzen caused two turnovers, while Martinelli had one ground ball in the win.
  • Endicott is 19-3 in the all-time series against Wentworth, which dates back to March 30, 1996.
  • Tommy Hughes (Coram, N.Y.) went 13-for-17 at the face-off X, and picked up a team-high 10 ground balls, while Derek Yannone (Lynnfield, Mass.) was 4-for-5 at the X in the fourth quarter.
  • The Gulls won the ground balls matchup, 41-30.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Leopards went 17-for-21 in transition.
  • Paradis finished the contest with five points (3g, 2a).
  • James Caldwell (New Milford, Conn.) notched a team-high three caused turnovers.
  • Parent had two points (1g, 1a), and also scooped up a team-high four ground balls.

Endicott (5-8, 4-1 CCC) travels to Nichols on Wednesday, April 20 at 4:00 PM. Wentworth (3-10, 1-4 CCC) visits Gordon next Wednesday at 7:00 PM.


Salem, Mass. — Salem State won their third match in a row with a 6-3 win over Rhode Island College in Little East play on Saturday afternoon at the Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Vikings improve to 5-3 and 2-1 in the LEC. The Anchorman slip to 2-9, 0-2 in conference.  

Salem State swept doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead. John Didonato (Newbury, Mass.)/Kevin Lam(Salem, Mass.) won first doubles with an 8-3 victory over Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, R.I.)/Lee Tiberi (Smithfield, R.I.). Chen Chen (Lawrence, Mass.)/David Dluznieski (Auburn, Mass.) scored an 8-4 victory over Matthew Gambardella (West Warwick, R.I.)/Alan Esposito (Clinton, Conn.) in second doubles and Luke Hodgkins (Winthrop, Mass.)/ acob Averka (Sutton, Mass.) completed the run with an 8-5 win in third doubles.

Didonato and Chen led the way with wins at first and second singles respectively. Didonato beat Taggart, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 while Chen won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2 in second singles. Esposito took third singles for Rhode Island College with a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Lam. Dluznieski earned the other singles win for the Vikings, beating Scott, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Duquette and Gambardella rounded out singles play with wins at fifth and sixth singles respectively for the Anchormen.

Salem State will got to UMass Boston on Tuesday for a 3:00 PM match while Rhode Island College hosts UMass Dartmouth at 3:00 PM.

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women’s lacrosse team defeated Wentworth, 19-1, on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Hempstead Stadium.

Prior to today’s game, Elizabeth Reda (Wilton, Conn.), Brenna Shannon (Stratham, N.H.), and Isabelle Sipperly (Greenwich, N.Y.) were all honored for their contributions towards the women’s lacrosse program.

Endicott’s offense featured 12 different goal scorers today. The Gulls received hat-tricks from Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H.), Jackie Healy (Northborough, Mass.), and Erin McCarthy (Old Lyme, Conn.), and also saw Julianne Piatelli (Wrentham, Mass.), Teneal Perry (Halifax, Nova Scotia), Julia Strycharz (Lyme, Conn.), and Reda all score their first career goals in the win.

Amanda Dexter (Harvard, Mass.) buried the lone goal for the Leopards at the 3:00 mark of the second half off of a free position attempt.

Endicott starting goalie Maura Grady (Marblehead, Mass.) made two saves to push her record to 3-8 on the season. Molly Lane (Durham, Maine) also made one save in 18:03 of playing time, while Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) stopped two shots in 20:56 of action.

Wentworth starter Hayley Patton (Cranston, R.I.) compiled nine saves in the loss (2-11).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 4-0 in the all-time series versus Wentworth, which dates back to April 2, 2013.
  • Whitney finished the day with a team-high six points. Whitney has led the Gulls in points in seven games this season.
  • Whitney also led the squad in draw controls with five.
  • As a team, the Gulls won 16 draw controls, and also went 11-for-15 in transition.

FOR THE FOES

  • Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) notched a team-high two caused turnovers.
  • Leah Cummins (Plymouth, Mass.) registered a team-high three ground balls.
