Winthrop 4, Gloucester 2 Vikings win NEC for 2nd year in a row

Girls Hockey

Winthrop 7, Medford 0 Julia Holmes hat trick; 11th shutout for Vikings

Peabody 1, Newburyport 0 – 100th win for coach Michelle Roach, congratulations! – Game Puck: to all the seniors!! Ella, Chloe, Jenna, Avery, Hannah, and Penny – congrats on your senior night & thank you for all that you do!!

Men’s College Hockey

Salem State 3, UMASS Dartmouth 2 3rd straight win for Vikings

Endicott 9, Suffolk 1 – Noah Strawn (Wareham) and Jackson Sterrett (Hendersonville, Tenn.) paced the Gulls with a pair of goals.

Andrew Kurapov (Corvallis, Ore.)Primo Self (Grand Rapids, Mich.)Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.)Thomas Albert (Readin), and Cass Bowes (Sturgeon County, Albert) also buried solo tallies in the victory.

In goal, Ryan Wilson (Shelton, Conn.) made 26 stops to improve to 10-1-0 on the season.


Women’s College Hockey

Endicott 3, Suffolk 1- Teaghan Hall (West Springfield)Samantha Fantasia (Billerica), and Jess Michals (Westwood) all scored in the victory.

Hall and Fantasia buried tallies in the first period (7:03, 9:40), while Michals gave the Gulls the all-important insurance goal in the third (1:58).

In net, Michaela O’Brien (Pembroke) stopped 30 shots to move to 8-4-2 on the season.

Men’s College Basketball

Endicott 90, Curry 58 – Details in separate post

Salem State 75, MCLA  64 – Behind 25 points from senior Chris Macdonald (Wakefield), Salem State men’s basketball notched the 75-64 win over the Trailblazers of MCLA. This afternoon’s win improved the Vikings to 5-7 in MASCAC play as they enter their final week of the regular season.

MacDonald paced the Vikings with 25 points to go along with four helpers while Jaden Castillo (Lawrence)) added 12 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Jarret Byrne (Melrose) rounded out the scoring 10 points to go along with 11 rebounds, notching a double- double in the victory.


Women’s College Basketball

Endicott 68, Curry 67 – Details in separate post

Salem State 60, MCLA 50 – Kylie Gates (Pembroke) notched another near triple-double with 13 points, eight assists, and nine rebounds with Abuk Teng (Manchester, N.H.) and Alyssa Genness (Belfast) rounded out the scoring with 13 and 12 points, a piece, in the win.

Hailey Peabody (West Springfield, Mass.) led all scorers with 20 points to go along with nine rebounds while Kristie Zator (Windham, Conn.) netted 16 of her own in the effort.
