SALEM, MA – The City of Salem hosts the first Electronics Waste Collection Day of 2021 on Saturday March 27th from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The location for this e-waste event will be held at Salem State University’s O’Keefe Center parking lot, 225 Canal Street, due to drive-up COVID-19 testing taking place at Salem High School, where the event usually takes place.
E-Waste Collection Days for the rest of the year will be on June 26th, September 25th, and December 18th. Locations have not yet been finalized for these events; please check online at www.salem.com/recycling and refer to the events calendar on the right-hand side of the page to confirm locations once they are scheduled.
Salem residents can bring anything with a plug to the E-Waste Collection Events. Most items are free to dispose of, except for TVs, monitors, Freon appliances (refrigerator, AC, freezer, dehumidifier), and exercise equipment (treadmill, bike, elliptical, etc.) will have a $20 fee. Please stay in your vehicle the whole time and have your items ready to unload in your trunk, truck bed, or hatchback; items will not be unloaded from car seats. Please wear a face covering and have your cash or check (payable to RMG Enterprise) ready.
Please, no commercial drop-offs or white goods, including washers, dryers, and stoves. Call Waste Management at 800-972-4545 to schedule a free white good curbside pick-up. Please note that electronics items containing mercury, along with CFL bulbs, can be brought to Salem’s Department of Public Services, 5 Jefferson Avenue, during City business hours.
