Salem State University Athletic Director Peggy Carl Completing First Year at School – Radio Interview –

SALEM – Next month (July) will mark the one year anniversary for Salem State University Athletic Director Peggy Carl at the school. In a radio interview Carl details her background as a coach and administrator that led her to Salem State. Carl also updates listeners on the construction to replace and update the compressors at the Rocket Arena ice rink. Others topics discussed includes identifying some of the athletic successes this past school year and new initiatives in the plans to support athletic programs.

Peggy Carl was named Salem State’s third director of athletics and recreation in 2015. Carl most recently served for six years as director of athletics and recreation at Beloit College in Beloit, Wis. Previously she was the head men’s and women’s swimming coach and served in a variety of administrative capacities at Occidental College in Los Angeles, Calif., where she served for 18 years.

Well-known nationally in the world of swimming and diving, Carl has served on numerous National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) committees and has helped to organize and facilitate national championships (2000-2015). In 1996, she was selected to run the logistics for the swimming and diving competition at the Atlanta Olympic Games.
