Salem Man Arraigned in Crash that Killed Salem Police Officer

A Salem man was arraigned today in Salem District Court on charges in connection with the June 26, 2020 motor vehicle crash that took the life of an off-duty Salem Police officer.

Juan Marinez, 26, of Salem pleaded not guilty to Motor Vehicle Homicide by Reckless Operation, Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation, Speeding, Marked Lanes Violation.  Judge Carol-Ann Fraser ordered the defendant not to drive.  The case is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on April 22, 2021.

The Commonwealth was represented by Essex Assistant District Attorney Haleigh Reisman.

He is represented by Attorney Mike Cerulli and is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty in court.
