SALEM (Videos – Photos) The Salem High boys basketball team knocked of Marblehead Friday night 54-49. The Witches were led by two freshmen guards: Elian Rodriquez (24-points) and Jordan Maxson (18-points) Marblehead was led offensively by 14-point performances from Antonio Freddo and Nicholas Lemmond. The first half of the game was tight with Salem grabbing a three-point lead at the half (25-22) Salem put together a strong third quarter and led by 11 after the quarter (43-32) Marblehead would battle back to pull to within 3-points in the fourth quarter (45-42) but Salem was able to close out the game for their second win this season against Marblehead.
At halftime, Salem honored their State Championship 1990 Salem High team in which both of tonight’s head coaches were members of that team. Mike Giardi (Marblehead) and Tom Doyle (Salem) and other teammates were honored. The ceremony is on video (Below). Salem won the JV game 51-46.
