Rowley Police Department Investigating Serious Crash Involving Tractor Trailer and Motorcycle

ROWLEY — Chief Scott Dumas reports that the Rowley Police Department is investigating a serious crash involving a tractor trailer and a motorcycle this morning.

On Thursday, July 20 at 5:51 a.m., Rowley Police and Rowley Fire responded to the area of Route 133 and Route 1 for reports of a serious crash.

Upon arrival, first responders found a motorcycle with significant damage that had collided with a tractor trailer. The preliminary investigation indicates that both vehicles were traveling South on Newburyport Turnpike (Route 1) when the tractor trailer attempted to turn left onto Haverhill Street (Route 133), colliding with the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, a 64-year-old Salisbury man, was transported by a medical helicopter to a Boston hospital.

The driver of the tractor trailer, a 25-year-old Rowley man, did not report injuries.

Ipswich and Georgetown first responders, MassDOT and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit and MSP Truck Team assisted at the scene.

The scene was clear at approximately 8:30 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation by Rowley Police.
