Rockport Police Department Seeking to Hire Lateral Transfer Police Officer

ROCKPORT – Chief John Horvath announces that the Rockport Police Department is actively seeking highly motivated and community-oriented police officers for lateral transfer to the department.

Position: Full-time Civil Service Lateral Transfer Police Officer

Pay: Minimum starting salary $50,099 and commensurate with experience thereafter, plus longevity to qualified applicants and a generous benefits package.

Job Description: To provide efficient and effective patrol of the community in order to adequately prevent, investigate, and deter criminal activity, traffic violations, and to promote the well-being and safety of the Town.

Qualifications: Applicants must have Civil Service status under Chapter 31 and be eligible for transfer. All applicants must also have successfully completed the MPTC full-time police academy, possess strong problem solving abilities, and have effective verbal and written communication skills.

Candidates will be subjected to an extensive background investigation, medical evaluation and psychological screening.

Requirements: 

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony.
  • Must have a dependable background.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Must successfully pass a medical examination.
  • Must qualify and be able to obtain a firearms License to Carry.
