Mandatory Water Restriction Notice

 

ROCKPORT – Mandatory Water Restrictions in Effect:  August 24, 2020 until further notice

The Town of Rockport Public Works Commissioners has enacted mandatory waterrestrictions on outdoor water usage when using Town supplied water. The continued hotweather and lack of significant rainfall this summer season has resulted in a dramaticincrease in water use and subsequently a quick drop in the Town’s reservoir levels.Outdoor water use is a major component of the increased demand on our water supplyduring the summer months. For this reason, mandatory outdoor water restrictions havebeen enacted.

Please follow the mandatory restriction requirements below until further notice

:●The use of garden sprinkler systems and soaker hoses that use Town water isprohibited at all times while these water restrictions are in effect

.●The use of a hand held garden hose is allowed for a maximum period of 1 hourper day for all outdoor water uses, including watering of lawns & gardens, fillingof swimming pools, washing of cars & houses and for other various residentialand business uses. Only 1 hour of outdoor watering before the hour of 9 AM orafter the hour of 5 PM is allowed.

●Residents using well water for outdoor watering purposes must register with theDepartment of Public Works and display a sign on their property visible to thestreet that indicates well water is being used for watering purposes.
