Rockport Awarded $2.67 Million to Repair Damage from Severe Winter Storms and Flooding

Washington, DC – Today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that it awarded $2,675,593.50 in federal funding to the Town of Rockport to repair damages caused by severe winter storms and flooding in Massachusetts. Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA) applauded FEMA’s decision to help Rockport repair damaged regions.

“These federal resources will enable Rockport to rebuild areas that were damaged by severe winter storms and are now in need of serious repair,” said Moulton. “This is great news for our district, and I am grateful to FEMA for their substantial investment in Rockport’s future.”

The funding will repair breakwater damage in at least 10 different damaged areas and restore revetment to pre-disaster conditions in Rockport. Moulton’s staff worked with the town of Rockport and FEMA officials throughout the grant application process.

“The Rockport Department of Public Works (DPW) Commissioners want to thank Congressman Moulton and his staff for intervening on behalf of Rockport for the mitigation funds received for the rebuilding of the Pigeon Cove Harbor Breakwater,” said Bruce Reed, a DPW Commissioner in Rockport. “If it wasn’t for Congressman Moulton’s intervention, the livelihood of many lobstermen would have been at risk. The Rockport DPW Commissioners recognize the project would not have reached the positive conclusion without Congressman Moulton’s commitment and perseverance to getting the project done.”
