Six Navigators To Be Featured In The 2016 FCBL All-Star Game, Wednesday Night

The North Shore Navigators found out on Friday that six of their players would be representing the team at the 2016 Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) All-Star Game. The six All-Star selections tie the record for the most in franchise history, matching the 2012 and 2015 marks of six. The game will take place on Wednesday, July 13 in Worcester with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The first Navigators All-Star to be named was catcher/first baseman Mike D’Acunti (Southeastern University). D’Acunti has been one of their most consistent offensive threats, leading the team with a .339 batting average. D’Acunti also leads the team with 27 RBIs, which is tied for the third most in the FCBL. He has demonstrated power this season as well, blasting two home runs in 30 games played.

Another infielder, shortstop Joey Pena (St. Thomas Aquinas), was named to the team as well. In 2016, Pena Pena Navshas led the Navigators in on base percentage with a mark of .427 and managed to reach base safely in the first 29 games he played in. Pena leads the team in runs scored as well with a mark of 28. He has played superb defense during the season as well and has posted a fielding percentage of .963 on 181 attempts.

 

 

MacDaniel Singleton (Salem State) was the final position player to make the roster for the Navigators. Singleton NavsSingleton has shown versatility making starts in both left and center field for the team and sporting a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000. Singleton has had similar success at the plate being second on the team in batting average with a .320 mark with a team leading 33 hits.

 

 

The Navigators also got three pitchers onto the All-Star team, one of who was Jake Dexter (Southern Maine).Dexter Navs Dexter has made 11 appearances pitching 24 innings for the Navigators this season and has posted a 1.50 ERA during his outings. He is tied for second on the team in wins with two and has posted 16 strikeouts on the year.

 

 

Brian Burke (Curry College) was the second pitcher that made it on to the team. Burke leads the NavigatorsBurke Navs with three wins on the season and he has posted a 1.82 ERA in 24.2 innings on the year. He has recorded 19 strikeouts which is good for fourth on the team, and first amongst the relief pitchers.

 

 

The Navigators managed to get a sixth man onto the All-Star team by winning the FCBL fan vote. PitcherDiPasquale Navs Quinn DiPasquale (Stevens Institute) will get a chance to showcase his talent in Worcester. Since coming to the Navigators, DiPasquale has posted a 1-1 record while posting a 0.00 ERA in seven innings and helped to finish off the team’s first no hitter in franchise history on Friday night. He also has recorded six strikeouts during his relief performances.

 

The final representation the Navigators will get at the All-Star game will be first baseman Alex Brickman. Brickman - NavsBrickman will be participating in the home run derby thanks to the power he has demonstrated this season, cracking three homers in total for the team
