DANVERS – In the season opener, the St. John’s Prep Eagles had plenty of heroes on offense, thanks, primarily, to their staunch running game. The final score against Springfield Central, a top 5 D1 team along with the Prep, was indicative of the fierceness of the match. SJP won, 36-35, coming from way behind late in the 4th quarter, then fending off a furious finish by Central. The skill players picked up a lot of positive stats for the Eagles; and Prep coach Brian St. Pierre gives a lot of credit for that to his mostly inexperienced offensive line anchored by its only “veteran.”
