Police Update: Newburyport Cruiser Involved in Crash with Motorcycle – Swampscott Police Share Work Zone Awareness Week Video

NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Mark Murray reports that a Newburyport Police cruiser was involved in a crash with a motorcycle this morning.

At approximately 10:15 a.m., a Newburyport officer, while driving a marked cruiser and responding to a medical emergency, was struck on the side by a motorcycle.

The motorcycle struck the cruiser on Route 1 in the area of and Pond and Low streets. The motorcyclist, an 25-year-old man, was taken to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. He was wearing a helmet.

The police cruiser had its lights activated at the time. The officer involved was not seriously injured.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Newburyport Police Department and Massachusetts State Police
