At approximately 2:00 am on December 29, 2021 Swampscott Police, Fire and Atlantic Ambulance responded to a fatal single motor vehicle crash in the area 245 Paradise Rd. A 2005 Honda Accord, traveling northbound on Rt. 1A (Paradise Road) in Swampscott, reportedly lost control and crashed into a tree.
The operator and passenger of the Honda suffered life threatening injuries and were transported to North Shore Medical Center. The passenger of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the hospital. (His name is withheld pending positive identification and next of kin notification.) The operator was transferred to MGH Boston where he remains in critical condition.
The accident is being investigated by Swampscott PD, Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction and Crime Scene Services Sections and the Essex District Attorney’s Office. No charges or citations have issued for this fatality.
Swampscott Police requested mutual aid from Marblehead, Lynn, and Nahant Police at the time of the crash.
