Over the Labor Day weekend we are reprising over 25 feature interviews with north shore football coaches. In these interviews the coaches share memories from the days as players and reflect on the events and people that have shaped them as coaches. These interviews were conducted in August, many of them prior to the first day of practices (8/18). After Labor Day, msonewsports will be previewing opening high school matchups on the opening weekend of play. (9/8)
SWAMPSCOTT (Podcast) Peter Bush is starting his first season as head football coach of the Swampscott Big Blue. Bush grew up in Swampscott, played for Swampscott, and his father (Bill Bush) is a former head coach at the school. Peter Bush has been a longtime member of the school’s coaching staff and for the past few years has he was the team’s defensive coordinator. After playing at Swampscott for his father he went on to play at the University of New Hampshire. In the podcast interview Bush describes what it was like growing up in Swampscott, then joining the Big Blue football team, the steps that led him to UNH, and eventually how he got into coaching. This interview was recorded just before the first day of practices (8/18), however the photos were taken this week at practice. Swampscott will open the season Friday (9/8) at Auburn. This is the final of 25 feature interviews with north shore football coaches this summer on msonewsports.com. We will be reposting the interviews over the Labor Day weekend.
