LYNN / SWAMPSCOTT (Podcast) – The water quality concerns at Kings Beach in Lynn and Swampscott are nothing new. However, efforts to remediate the longstanding concerns have ramped up over the past several months. When this podcast interview was recorded Chris Mancini, the Executive Director of Save the Harbor / Save the Bay, had just come from a Lynn City Hall meeting on Thursday (2/2) with many stakeholders regarding Kings Beach. His organization was founded in 1986 and was instrumental in cleaning up Boston Harbor. This was well before Mancini’s time with the organization, but the Swampscott resident moved to the north shore town with the desire to do something about Kings Beach. In the podcast Mancini tells the story why he moved to Swampscott. The podcast provides an informative overview of the causes of Kings Beach pollution and also provides possible remediation actions to improve water quality. Mancini notes that it will be a difficult process to arrive at a consensus plan as at this time, not one single plan that can provide the results being sought.
