Men’s College Hockey
Salem State 2, MCLA 0 Erik Larsson (Lake Tahoe, Calif.) and Skylar Miller (Chandler, Ariz.) each scored a goal, Saturday night at Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink. Throughout the first two periods of regulation, Salem State’s goaltender, Hunter Thomas (Schwenksville, PA.) saved all 22 shots in front of him, while Gover of MCLA saved 24 of the 26 shots. The Vikings won 27 of the faceoffs while the Trailblazers won 23. The Vikings boosted their overall record to 4-11,4-7 while the Trailblazers drop to 2-12-1, 0-9-

Southern Maine 4, Salem State 0 – Salem State will be looking to bounce back this upcoming Friday night, January 19, as they face William Smith for a New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) game. Puck drop at 6:00 p.m.
Men’s College Basketball
Salem State 84, MCLA 76 – Michael Makiej (Andover) poured in a game-high 31 points to lead the Vikings to a victory Senior guard Jaden Castillo (Lawrence) netted his 1,000th point in the victory, making him the 27th member from Salem State men’s basketball to join the elite club. To go along with his game-high 31 points, Makiej recorded eight rebounds, five steals and four assists for the Vikings. Castillo chipped in with 23 points while Liam Byrne (Melrose) and L.J. Hicks (Gardner) netted 12 and 10 points, respectively. Salem State is back at home on Wednesday, January 17 when they welcome the Lancers of Worcester State University for a 7:00p.m. start.
Western New England 95, Endicott 76 – Elijah Kinney (Nashville) led the Gulls’ efforts with a game-high 22 points (8-13 FG, 2-5 3PT, 4-5 FT) and 10 rebounds (seven defensive, three offensive). Jeff Hill (Lynn) recorded 12 points (4-7 FG) while also dishing out three assists and picking up two steals for the Blue and Green. Parker McLaren (Newburyport) responded with another trifecta for the Gulls, cutting the deficit back to just five with 8:32 remaining in the half. Endicott (10-5, 5-2 CCC) welcomes Roger Williams to MacDonald Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 17 for a 7:30 PM tipoff.
Women’s College Basketball –
Salem State 63, MCLA 39 – With four steals on the afternoon, senior guard Kylie Gates (Pembroke) became the fifth student-athlete in Salem State history to surpass 200 steals and 300 assists for the blue and orange in their career. Freshman Jarielis Perez (Lynn) recorded a career- high 16 points (4-7 3PT.) to lead the Vikings while Abuk Teng (Manchester, N.H.) and Amayah McConney (Salem) netted 13 and 11 points, respectively. McConney’s 11 points is also a career-high for the freshman guard.Salem State is back at home on Wednesday, January 17 when they welcome the Lancers of Worcester State University for a 5:00p.m. start.
Endicott 63, Western New England 56 – Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) led all scorers with 19 points (5-14 FG, 9-10 FT) to go along with eight boards. Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) supplied 13 points (4-7 FG, 3-3 3PT) and snatched nine rebounds, while Emma Shinney (Wakefield) produced an all-around stat line that included 10 points, six rebounds, and five dimes in 35 minutes. Taylor Bogdanski (Saugus) also chipped in with nine points and notched six rebounds. Endicott (9-5, 5-2 CCC) hosts Roger Williams on Wednesday, January 17 at 5:30 PM.
