Over the Labor Day weekend we are reprising over 25 feature interviews with north shore football coaches. In these interviews the coaches share memories from the days as players and reflect on the events and people that have shaped them as coaches. These interviews were conducted in August, many of them prior to the first day of practices (8/18). After Labor Day, msonewsports will be previewing opening high school match-ups on the opening weekend of play. (9/8)
NORTH READING (Podcast – Photos) North Reading football coach Ed Blum will be starting his 6th season as head coach of the Hornets and his 8th overall season on the coaching staff. North Reading is thedefending MIAA D5 State Champions. In this podcast interview, one of a series of interviews with north shore coaches, Blum shares his story as a football player at Weston High School and his transition into coaching. Blum also describes his coaching philosophy related to building a program with a supportive climate, a desire to win, and developing successful student athletics on and off the field. North Reading lost in the 2021 MIAA Super Bowl game but returned to win the school’s first state football championship in 2022.
