Podcast: Essex County State Rep. Race Unresolved – Special State House Hearing on Friday – Rep. Lenny Mirra Provides Election Updates

GEORGETOWN (Podcast) State Representative (2nd Essex) Lenny Mirra won reelection in November to a newly redesigned house district. However, after a recount the Georgetown Republican lost the election by one vote. Mirra was unsuccessful in a court appeal. The Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives Ron Mariano (D-Quincy) has the constitutional power to review the election and so far, South Hamilton Democrat Kristin Kassner has not been sworn in by the speaker. The House is holding a special hearing to review evidence on this race as well as an election in Middlesex County on Friday. In this podcast interview Mirra explains his situation as he remains a state Rep. and discusses his election appeal and the Friday hearing. Mirra clearly states in this podcast that he will support the findings coming out of Friday’s hearing at the state house. There is precedent that the outcome of Friday’s hearing could be the need to hold a special election to resolve the winner.
