NAVIGATORS RE-SIGN DEMARTINIS, PART OF NORTHEAST-10 PAIR

LYNN — The North Shore Navigators are set to welcome back a familiar face and add in a newcomer from the Northeast-10 Conference as the start of New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) season draws closer.

Fresh off earning second-team All-NE10 honors during his first season at Bentley University, Stan DeMartinis III will return for another go-around with the Navigators. The versatile player hit .318 with a team-leading 11 home runs, 49 RBI and 52 runs scored. He ranked among the top seven in the powerful Division 2 conference in slugging percentage (.637), RBI and runs at the conclusion of the Falcons’ season. A former Bryant transfer, DeMartinis stole a team-leading nine bases for North Shore last summer.

Catcher Kyle Lavigne has contributed to a Southern New Hampshire University club that recently captured its third consecutive East Regional crown. The native of Bedford, N.H., carries a .473 average with three doubles, three homers, 16 RBI and 17 runs scored into the College World Series later this week. During the Penmen’s regional sweep of Pace, he homered twice and reached base in eight of his 10 total plate appearances. Lavigne’s older brother, Grant, plays in the Colorado Rockies organization.

The Navs kick off their 16th summer of collegiate baseball on Wednesday, June 7 and will host their home opener at a renovated Fraser Field on Friday, June 9. The 2023 season includes 22 home games, as well as the return of the NECBL All-Star Game to Lynn on Sunday, July 23.
