Mandatory Outdoor Water Use Restrictions
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has declared the Northeast Region, which includes
Peabody and surrounding communities, to be at Level 2 Drought or ‘Significant Drought.’ In
accordance with the City of Peabody’s Massachusetts Water Management Act
Registration, effective immediately, nonessential outdoor water use is restricted to
watering of ornamentals and flower gardens with drip irrigation, hand-held hose, or
watering cans. Until the State determines the drought condition has improved, the use of
sprinkler systems is banned. The City is required to implement these water use restrictions
per Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s Water Management Act.
